14 Jul 2008 Race Report - Rounds 13 & 14
 | | A very hot Snetterton in Norfolk hosted rounds 13 (Saturday) and 14 (Sunday) of the ELF Renault Clio Cup. Doncaster racer Rob Boston in his Double Six Racing run Clio, qualified eleventh and twelfth for round 13 and 14 respectively in a time of 1min18secs.
The green lights went out, and round 13 underway Rob a total novice at the beginning of the season and in his first year of racing was off, moving up through the field, which has become habit as the season has progressed. At one stage Rob had actually progressed up to sixth but unfortunately took a little spin on the wet track at the esses, and rejoined in fourteenth but with pure grit and determination battled his way back up to tenth by the chequered flag. He completed the 19 laps in 28mins35secs.
After a reasonable round 13, Rob was up for it in round 14 and totally focused to improve on his previous rounds finishing position. Once again as the lights went out Rob was on his way again scything his way up through the field. Rob brought the Clio home after 18 laps in seventh place in a time of 24min47secs.
Rob has had an outstanding first year in racing and has earned a lot of respect from the more battle hardened racers. Oulton Park cannot come soon enough. |
