19 May 2008 Race Report - Rounds 7 & 8 Qualifying for Rounds 7 and 8 at Thruxton was a disappointing showing. Following the accident back at Rockingham the car still had a few gremlins. Being down on revs at a place like Thruxton is not a good thing. The team decided to send Rob out to complete 3 flying laps so that we could take part in the races from the back of the grid. Following hours of investigation a faulty part was found and replaced which returned the car to full power. RACE 1 Starting from the back of the grid Rob performed a brave over taking move around the outside of the pack only to be hit by a spinning car and ruining his chances. Rob battled on with a badly handling car to finish 20th and gain onepoint towards the championship. RACE 2 With the car repaired and Rob starting at the back of the grid again, the team were positive that the outcome would be much better. Unfortunately part way through the race contact with another car damaged the steering leaving Rob to battle home again. This time he managed to finish 19th. Thruxton was not a good place for the 2008 Race Star winner, but hopes are high for the next round to be held at Croft on 31st May/1st June. |
